[Clinton, N.C.]- On Friday, February 7th, Sampson Community College’s (SCC) Academy of Continuing Excellence (ACE) students had the honor of attending the ‘Night to Shine’ event hosted by First Methodist Church in Clinton. One of the biggest events of the year for the program, students were able to attend a spectacular prom-type experience.
‘Night to Shine’ is an initiative sponsored by the Tim Tebow Foundation that focuses on individuals with specials needs, taking place all over the globe on the same night. This year, 821 host churches across 62 countries participated, including all 50 states who offered the event.

While at the event, students were able to participate in numerous different activities such as riding in a party bus, singing karaoke, enjoying great food, and dancing. Guests also had the opportunity to create custom trucker hats and beaded friendship bracelets.
Allie Turner, Lead Instructor of the ACE program, stated, “Night to Shine is truly a magical event. It’s a night filled with so much fun, laughter and love, and it is the perfect way to bring our community closer together!”
The purpose of the ACE program is to assist students with learning/intellectual disabilities in the areas of reading, writing, math, and vocational skills. The main goals of this program are for each student to make an effortless transition into an additional post-secondary education option or employment.
